Product Overview
Black pepper grows along Tanzania's humid coastal belt and in the Tanga region, where conditions produce dense, pungent berries. Our pepper is sun-dried at origin, then garbled and cleaned in Dar es Salaam to remove light berries, dust and extraneous matter.
We supply the two densities the trade buys to: 500 G/L for general grinding and packing, and 550 G/L bold pepper for premium grinders and whole-pepper packers. Density is verified lot by lot — it is the parameter your grinder will check first.
Steam sterilization can be arranged for buyers with strict microbial specifications, and every shipment is phytosanitary-certified with fumigation documentation where the destination requires it.
The world pepper market is dominated by Vietnam and Brazil on volume, but Tanzanian pepper competes on density and cleanliness rather than price alone. Grinders who have been burned by light, dusty pepper appreciate a 550 G/L lot that grinds to specification without excessive waste — and our density verification per lot is how we make sure you get what the contract says.

Quality Assurance
Pepper quality is density, cleanliness and moisture. We verify bulk density per lot, screen out light berries and pinheads, and confirm moisture before bagging.
For food-safety-sensitive buyers we arrange steam sterilization and accredited microbial testing, with certificates included in the document set.

Sourcing Season & Buying Tips
Pepper harvest timing varies across Tanzania's coastal and Tanga growing zones, and we hold graded, dried stock through much of the year. That means availability is less seasonal than tree crops — but fresh-harvest lots still offer the best aroma and colour.
For 550 G/L bold pepper, early inquiry helps: bold lots are a subset of every harvest and they are the first to be committed. If your specification demands steam sterilization, build an extra week into the timeline for treatment and testing.
Who Buys Black Pepper
- Spice grinders and packers
- Food manufacturers (seasonings, sauces)
- Private-label spice brands
- Commodity traders
Shipping & Logistics
Pepper is dense, compact cargo that containerises efficiently: expect about 2–3 weeks to Gulf ports, 3–4 weeks to India and Southeast Asia, and 4–6 weeks to Europe and North America from Dar es Salaam. We stuff in clean, dry containers and keep pepper clear of moisture-sensitive or odour-absorbing cargo. Fumigation, where your destination requires it, is completed before sailing and certified in the document set. For grinders on programme, we can schedule rolling shipments against quarterly call-offs so your mill never waits on a vessel.
