Product Overview
Cloves and Zanzibar are inseparable: the islands have grown and traded cloves for two centuries, and the slow sun-drying tradition produces buds with the deep colour and high volatile-oil content that buyers pay a premium for.
Our cloves are hand-picked at the right maturity, sun-dried to specification and hand-sorted. We supply whole cloves for the premium whole-spice market and headless grades for grinding and distillation, where volatile-oil content matters most.
Because authenticity commands a premium, we provide origin documentation for buyers who need to evidence Zanzibar provenance to their customers. Every consignment is phytosanitary-certified and fumigated where required.
Madagascar is Zanzibar's historic rival in cloves, but buyers who need documented Zanzibar provenance — for premium whole-spice lines or for customers who specify origin — cannot substitute it. Our lot-by-lot origin documentation exists precisely for those buyers, and our separation of whole and headless grades at source means each market gets the grade it actually needs.

Quality Assurance
Clove quality is judged on dryness, colour, head content and volatile oil. We verify moisture before bagging, sort for uniform dark-brown buds, and test volatile-oil content for distillation buyers on request.
Proper drying at origin is the foundation — under-dried cloves lose both grade and price, so our intake rejects soft or high-moisture lots.

Sourcing Season & Buying Tips
Zanzibar's clove harvest centres on the second half of the year, roughly July to December, with a smaller off-season pick. Fresh-harvest cloves carry the strongest aroma and the darkest bud colour — the attributes that define premium grade.
Because genuine Zanzibar origin commands a premium, early-season contracting also protects you on authenticity: we document origin lot by lot as the harvest comes in. Whole cloves for the spice market and headless grades for distillation are both selected from the same harvest stream.

Shipping & Logistics
Cloves ship as light, aromatic cargo — stowage keeps them clear of odour-sensitive goods, and double-bagging is available for aroma retention on long voyages. Typical transits from Dar es Salaam run 2–3 weeks to the Gulf and India, 3–5 weeks to Southeast Asia, and 4–6 weeks to Europe. We share vessel and tracking details at stuffing so distillers and grinders can schedule around arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are your cloves genuinely from Zanzibar?
Yes. We source from Zanzibar growers and can provide origin documentation for buyers who need provenance evidence.
Whole or headless — which should I buy?
Whole cloves suit the premium whole-spice market; headless grades are the economical choice for grinding and oil distillation. Tell us your end use and we will recommend.
What moisture do you ship at?
Maximum 12%, verified before bagging.
What is the volatile-oil content?
Zanzibar cloves are known for high volatile oil. We test on request for distillation buyers — specify your minimum in the inquiry.
What is the minimum order?
One 20-foot container, roughly 12–13 MT.
How should cloves be stored?
Cool, dry, away from light and strong odours. Well-dried cloves keep 2+ years under proper storage.
Do you fumigate shipments?
Yes, where the destination requires it — fumigation certificates are included in the document set.
Can I get samples?
Yes — samples of both whole and headless grades can be couriered for your evaluation.
